Inspiring art exhibition in Salthouse Church

The light, bright and reflective space of St Nicholas Church in Salthouse will be the venue next month for an art exhibition by a group of Christian artists, and anyone is free to come along.

The Salthouse’ is a group of Christian creatives, who will be exhibiting in the church again this summer.  The eight artists work in various media and genres, from acrylic and oil paintings, glass and textiles, sound and poetry.  Each artist finds inspiration from an understanding that we are all, to some extent, creative because we are made in the image of a Creator who loves us and loves the world we are blessed to live in.

salthouse art 750ATSt Nicholas Church, set high between farmland and marsh, land and sea, is worth a visit in itself and many find it a place of deep peace, a place to sit and ponder. It is in Church Lane, off Cross Street, Salthouse, NR5 7XH

The group of artists comprises Charlotte Ashenden, Emma Blount, Ian Dyble, Charlotte Harmer, Tracey Ross, Cecilia Tyrrell, Sue Walsh and Terri Watkin, all of whom are pictured above.

Rev Ian Dyble, who is also the vicar of Salthouse, says ‘I love this place and it is a real joy to be exhibiting again this year.  Our hope as artists is that many people will come along and enjoy the art but also find a sense of wonder and, perhaps, see a higher hand at work.’

Artist and organiser Tracey Ross says ‘I am absolutely delighted The Salthouse is happening again this summer. It is such a great opportunity to see how artists express their creativity through art and faith. We also have the pleasure of a sound artist and an eco-printed textile designer to help fill the church with colour and the sound of nature’.

Many of the artists will be offering original work for sale, as well as prints and cards.

There will be an Evening Preview to which all are welcome between 5.00pm and 8.00pm on Friday 12 April and the exhibition runs from 13 to 28 April and will be open daily between 10.00am and 4.00pm.   Entry is free.
