Parachuting teddies to launch Horning kids' work

Teddies will be flying from the top of Barton Turf church tower at their teddy bears’ picnic and parachute event which will launch the benefice’s new children’s work.

The event will happen at St Michael And All Angels Church in Barton Turf, near Horning, on Sunday February 25 at 4 pm, when people of all ages are invited to bring along their favourite teddy and watch it parachute down from the top of the church tower. Afterwards food will be provided for humans and teddies. There will also be games and activities for children.

The occasion will mark the start of a new outreach and ministry to children aged 3-11 in the area. Revd Ben Bradshaw, Rector of the Benefice of St Benedict (which includes Ashmanhaugh, Barton Turf, Horning, Irstead and Neatishead) explains that “each month we will be offering different, engaging, and lively services that will include interesting activities, entertaining games, interactive crafts as well as food for young people and drinks for parents and carers.” These will include a Palm Sunday walk with a real donkey, a pet service and a barbecue and treasure hunt.

In addition, there will be a Sunday Club every fortnight at Neatishead Church for children to join while their parents are in the adult church service, and be engaged with teaching, activities and games.

Revd Ben says that “everyone is welcome at Children’s Church and it is completely free to attend!”
