Fakenham tree fest 2017 750AT
Fakenham Church Christmas trees raise £31K

This year’s Christmas tree festival in Fakenham Parish Church has raised a total of £31,000, shared between the charities taking part and the church itself.

It was the 23rd annual festival and saw 53 trees, all donated free of charge from Fakenham Garden Centre, decorated by volunteers from the charities taking part. The church also raised money through its cafe, stalls, tombola and raffle, and the event was sponsored by the Rotary Club and Hayes and Storr Solicitors. The festival ran from November 30 to December 8.

The Charities on display raised over £16,000 between them, and the church raised £15277, which will help to fund improvements to the church entrance which it hopes to begin in January. This will improve accessibility to St Peter and St Paul's church, which at present has a steep ramp, which can present problems for those with prams or wheelchairs. It is also hoped to replace the heavy wooden door with a new glass one, which will also make it easier for everyone to get into the church.

Charities interested in taking part next year are advised to check christmastreefestival.co.uk for updates.
