Jerusalem Rector set to speak in Norwich church

St Stephen’s Church Norwich is set to host the Rector of Christ Church Jerusalem, Rev David Pileggi on Tuesday September 12, at 7.30pm, to speak about Christ Church – a Christian Presence amongst Arabs and Jews.

Rev David, with his wife Carol, has been Rector of Christ Church Jerusalem for over 30 years, and it is in this ever-changing, ever-conflicted city that’s they’ve made their home and brought up their family. The congregation at Christ Church is both very international and very local. Christian Arabs worship with Messianic Jews. There can be as many as 500 people attending multiple Sunday services, made up of residents of Jerusalem, together with pilgrims and visitors from literally all over the world.

Meeting organiser Gail Halley said: “Christ Church serves the various communities of the city, and its Mercy Fund is now central to the ministry. This fund reaches out to people in need in the Old City – both Jews and Arabs. David and his team are neither Zionist zealots nor Palestinian activists – rather, David preaches the Gospel; the world in all its wonderful richness and variety comes to him, and he shares with them the love of Jesus.

“His experience of living in the land where Our Lord was born, lived, died and rose again – and furthermore to which He is coming back – brings an inspirational depth to his teaching. David is intensely listenable-to. This is a rare and precious opportunity to hear directly from one who has for so long been central to the current situation.

“The prospect of this opportunity led to conversations with a number of people in the city, including Rev Canon Madeline Light, Vicar of St Stephen’s, who are delighted to be hosting the meeting.”

Details of the meeting: Tuesday September 12 at St Stephen’s Church, Rampant Horse St, Norwich NR2 1QP starting at 7.30pm. There is ample parking in Chantry Place car park – entrance in Chapelfield NR2 1SF (payment by card only). For further information, contact Gail Halley (07837 635614).
